Today, I would like to explain the general timetable of a strip show. While specific times may vary depending on the theater, I will be using the timetable from Shibuya Doutonbori Theater as an example.
Basic time table of Japanese strip show
The timetable for Shibuya Dotonbori Theater is listed on the official page.
Shibuya Doutonbori Theater Timetable
According to the official website of Shibuya Doutonbori Theater, their strip shows are held four times a day. The typical performance times are as follows:
Showtimes:
- 1st show: 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd show: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
- 3rd show: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- 4th show: 8:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Performers
At Shibuya Doutonbori Theater, there are usually 5 dancers who perform in rotation. These performances are repeated 4 times a day.
Breaking Down the 1st Show
The first show runs from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, and consists of the following. Each dancer performs a routine lasting approximately about 17 minutes. After the routine, there is a digital photo session (called “digital time”). Following that, there is a final open show.
Example Schedule for the First Show:
- 1st Performer: 12:00 – 12:30
- (Routine: Show time 17 minutes, Photo time: 10 minutes, Open show: 3 minutes)
- 2nd Performer: 12:30 – 1:00 PM
- 3rd Performer: 1:00 – 1:30 PM
- 4th Performer: 1:30 – 2:00 PM
- 5th Performer: 2:00 – 2:30 PM
- Finale: 2:30 PM
Performance Time
Each performance lasts about 17 minutes. Some dancers may prepare multiple routines, offering different dances during each of the four shows. This variety helps to keep the audience entertained throughout the day.
Digital Time (Photo Session)
During this time, you can take photos with the dancers. You may request a two-shot or ask them to strike a pose of your choice. You can also leave your photo with the dancer for them to sign or add a comment by the next photo session (though sometimes, due to busyness, the dancer might not sign it).
Be mindful of your time during the photo session, especially for popular dancers, as the sessions can take longer when many people want pictures.
Gift Giving
During the photo session, you can also hand gifts to the dancers and chat briefly.
Open Show
The open show takes place after the dance routine and photo session. If you really liked the dancer, you can tip them during this time, and they might show you something special in return.
Finale
After the last dancer finishes, all five performers come back to the stage for the finale. Once the finale ends, there is a short break (depending on the time, it may be immediate), and the next show begins, starting with the first dancer once again.
This sequence is repeated 4 times a day.
